Old Dominion RC&D sponsors are:

10 counties:
Amelia, Brunswick, Buckingham, Charlotte, Cumberland, Halifax, Lunenburg, Mecklenburg, Nottoway and Prince Edward

45 soil & water conservation districts: Lake Country, Halifax, Piedmont, Peter Francisco and Southside

2 planning district commissions: Commonwealth Regional Council and Southside Planning District Commission

The council operates independently, addressing the concerns and problems within its RC&D area. There are no government mandates. RC&D networks with other RC&D councils and partner organizations and shares ideas and information.

Old Dominion RC&D is made up of volunteers who want a better life for themselves, their children and future generations.

The office is staffed by a coordinator and program assistant provided by USDA/Natural Resources Conservation Service. Their functions are:

To search for agencies/organizations to assist in completing a project
To provide technical assistance
To be a catalyst that brings about desired results
To enlist local leadership and support
To seek potential funding sources
To act as project manager
